So the biggest decision I have to make thus far is whether or not I want to do an actual van like the Sprinter or get something a bit bigger, like a school bus.
Since it's only me most of the time, my needs are a bit simpler as I'm not planning on family coming with me or entertaining all that often.
The past five years of watching videos and seeing other builds in vans, skoolies & rv's has really helped me figure out what I actually need vs what I want.
For example: A toilet. That is a non-negotiable for me. I've seen some van builds that didn't include toilets and that doesn't work for me. While I have no issues using nature when boondocking, sometimes it's not as easy to find restrooms in the cities (all depending on where you are).
I love the space that a skoolie provides but I also know they don't get as good gas mileage as vans and they're harder to insure, which is another factor I had to take into consideration.
So since I'm not traveling full time, I've decided to go with a van build. It is a smaller space but the cool thing is that if I build it out and decide that I don't like the smaller space, I can sell the van and build out a skoolie to my needs.
The next step is to decide which van I want to get.
